CLINICAL OBSERVERSHIP PROGRAMME


The Department of Critical Care Medicine, Fortis Memorial Research Institute Gurgaon provides cutting edge, exemplary, advanced care for critically ill adult patients in their specialized intensive care units (ICUs).
We have started accepting national and international trainees and physicians on an individual basis for the clinical observership program.




    The program is offered in Five main streams
  • Medical ICU
  • Liver/kidney transplant
  • Neurosciences and neurotrauma,
  • Cardiac ICU
  • Acute care surgery and trauma ICUs.
    Duration
  1. On Consecutive days ranging from two weeks (minimum) to two months (maximum) duration
  2. Weekend Program: Candidates can join on consecutive weekends, total days amounting to 14 days minimum and 30 days maximum
    Eligibility Criteria
  1. National or international medical students, residents, or fellows (trainees) enrolled in any training program who are actively supported for this observership by their training institution and who will be returning to that institution after the observership.
  2. National or international physicians who are employed in their profession and care for critically ill patients and who will be returning to that position immediately following observership.
  3. International applicants must apply 3 months before and Indian applicants 1 month before the anticipated date of observership.
  4. Sponsored Applicants need to provide a sponsorship letter from their immediate supervisor on institutional letterhead. The letter must be typed, dated, and signed by the supervisor in English and must specify the exact dates of the proposed observership. The letter should also have the contact information of the supervisor.
  5. The applicant must provide a curriculum vitae (CV). The CV must provide details on training, contact information, date of birth, nationality, citizenship, visa status foreign candidates only), and name and address of two references.
  6. All international applicants will be interviewed by video conference using Skype.

The Department of Critical Care Team


The seven year old department provides comprehensive and advanced care to the sickest of patients. It has been handling cases related to multiple sub specialities and is aided in it by cutting edge technology and modalities like ECMO, Nitric Oxide, Advanced Hmodynamiuc monitoring, EMS systems etc
Our consultants are all certified by the appropriate boards and societies like the National /board of Examinations (NBE), European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), India Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) etc. Apart from clinical work, they are involved in research and training programmes. Trainings are not only limited to the regular fellowship students but also involves regular simulation based courses for doctors and nurses.
They are available round the clock so the care and learning never stops. The major areas covered are

Observership for Nurses

Course Duration: 6 weeks

    Eligibility Criteria
  1. Nursing professionals working or studying in any national or international institute can apply. They will have the option of returning to the parent institute or might be offered placements in Fortis Group Hospitals. It will be on the sole discretion of Fortis Hospital.
  2. Applicants must apply international applicant 3 months and national 1 month before the anticipated date of observership.

Nursing Department The nurses working in the department are highly trained by nurse educators and doctors alike. They are involved in the implementation of day to day protocols in the ICU. They have to be adept in handling all emergencies and criticalities as first responders as well as take care of complex cases.
Observers will be able to assist with patients and will be trained extensively on simulators
